Production Engineer
Basildon, Essex - full-time permanent position
Waymade have an opportunity for an experienced Production Engineer to join the operations team. You will be responsible for planning, installation, maintenance and repair of a wide and varied range of electrical systems and production equipment used in the development, manufacture, testing and packaging of pharmaceuticals. Your expertise should include electrical controls as well as technical process and production engineering. You will be working to exceptionally high quality standards and operating within a GMP controlled environment.

The role
- Responding to break downs and repairing equipment.
- Setting up/changing over production lines in preparation for production.
- Providing engineering support for production and maintenance activities to ensure maximum production.
- Developing operating instructions and equipment specifications for production activities.
- Developing best practices to improve production capacity, quality, and reliability.
- Staying current with production specifications, engineering technology and production processes.
- Performing engineering analysis to reduce downtime and outages.
- Purchasing and installing equipment and procurement of consumables and spares.
- Planning and coordinate production engineering process daily to produce high quality products.
- Managing budgets and monitor department spend.
- Provide training and guidance to team members to accomplish production goals.
- Evaluation of current production activities and make recommendations for improvements.
- Implementing cost reduction initiatives while maintain high quality standards.
- Developing process improvements to effectively utilize equipment and materials to maximize production.
- Designing new equipment, processes, procedures, and systems.
- Maintaining relevant safety objectives and legal requirement.
- Developing operations strategies to achieve production and financial objectives.
About you - what you will need.
- Production engineering experienced gained in a similar environment, preferably a pharmaceutical or biotech business.
- An electrical engineering qualification.
- Strong planning skills.
- Able to manage budgets and produce management reports.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office software packages.
- Understanding of all the applications of electrical engineering.
- Excellent knowledge of the installation and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.
