This is a new role created to support the Unincorporated Joint Venture (JV) set up between Kier and VolkerFitzpatrick (KVF35 JV), the purpose of which is the design and construction of new facilities to support the beddown arrival of the two squadrons of USAFE F35A to RAF Lakenheath in November 2021. Whilst contracted by MOD / DIO, the works are therefore predominantly for the US Air Force, with AFCEC (US Air Force Civil Engineer Centre) a key stakeholder.
Following contract award in late 2018, we are currently in a mobilisation period for the works, which includes the setting up of all finance and back office functions for the JV.
The project requires full time financial support, which encompasses a range of responsibilities including ensuring robust financial control, accurate and timely reporting, and partnering and supporting the commercial and operational teams who are delivering the works.
The nature of the role demands a high calibre individual who has experience of working in a project-based environment, is self-motivated and a strong team player.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Establishment, improvement and monitoring of JV processes and financial controls (including ensuring JV operates in line with JV agreement, JV policies, or as directed by management board)
  • Management of JV ledgers and balance sheet, including journal posting as required
  • Day to day cash management and cashflow forecasting
  • Production of JV monthly management accounts and reports for the senior project team and JV Board
  • Preparation of VAT and other tax and statutory returns
  • Liaison with JV partner finance teams, providing reports and information
  • Liaison with VF treasury and transactional processing teams
  • Supporting commercial team in cost control, cost plan preparation, forecasting and variance analysis, and in maximising the project margin.
  • Establishment and maintenance of project KPI's
  • Management of cost work breakdown structure for internal and client reporting
  • Required Qualifications/ Experience
  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA or ACA)
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a project based/focussed role, ideally in the construction industry.
  • Oracle experience desirable but not essential
  • Strong communicator with ability to manage stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop strong and supportive relationships, but not afraid to challenge when required.
  • Result and quality driven with attention to detail.
