About the role

As Project Coordinator you will have a key role in supporting the Steelwork & Projects Estimating team in preparing technical and commercial responses to a variety of customer enquiries. As well as coordinating the enquiries workstream, you will be liaising with clients to understand their requirements and deliver quotations with support from the estimating team. Other deliverables include interpreting customer requirements (often from technical drawings) and converting into Swann Engineering Group product and service quotations, and providing timely quotations to customer enquiries. You will also manage sales order processing and customer relationship management for the Swann group of companies.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Interpret customer drawings and specifications to understand the requirement relating to an enquiry.
  • Assign tasks/requests to persons/teams within the business.
  • Undertake pricing workups for Steelworks and/or Tender related works.
  • Check customer requirements against available product types.
  • Utilise the company's pricing system (MS Excel & CRM based) to compile quotations for telecoms and special projects.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers and internal procurement to check costings where required.
  • Investigate ways of reducing price through supply chain, method of fabrication/installation or value engineering, etc.
  • Ensure that outgoing quotations meet correct quality standards and profit margin requirements.
  • Assist with budgeting for orders incoming to the business compiling summaries of the costs that were allowed for during the quotation process.
  • Act as a point of contact and communicate project status to all participants.
  • Monitor projects and quotations and handle any issues /changes that arise.
  • Assist in handing over orders to the operational delivery team.
  • Coordinate project management activities, resources, equipment and information
  • General administration and associated works where required.

About you

  • Qualifications in Mathematics (GCSE or above) demonstrating a strong numerical skillset.
  • Computer literate; conversant in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Competent with the use of web browsing tools for online research purposes.
  • Good engineering/technical/manufacturing experience, understanding and background.
  • Some previous experience of pricing, costing or quoting.
  • Prior experience in of estimating steelwork fabrication beneficial but not essential.
  • Proven effective experience working and delivering within a technical environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical clients.
  • Strong written and spoken English language skills.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive and organised individual with good use of initiative.
  • Good team player.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and have a flexible approach to working.
