At Elk Recruitment we are seeking a Project Design Manager for our client based in Dubai.

Suitable applicants must have a BA / BSc in Civil Engineering and a minimum of 10 years' experience in engineering project design. The successful candidate may be required to travel within the EU and must be in a position to travel without the requirement of visas.

Salary is in the region of £13,000 / €14,500 per month inclusive of accommodation and transport. Family visas and medical insurance will be provided should the successful candidate chose to travel with family.

1. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the supervision and coordination of design team.
  • Coordinate with project management and engineering to finalize details as requested and ensure conformity with the program.
  • Obtain a full understanding of the requirements of the contract between the employer and the client.
  • Ensure client satisfaction and maintains a cordial and effective working relationship at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable company standards, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain appropriate systems and processes to monitor and measure the operational effectiveness.
  • Maintain an environment of productivity, mutual respect and equality amongst staff.
  • Vigilantly protects the financial and other interests of the employer.

2. SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify project requirements and offer Company scope of Engineering Design.
  • Apply creativity and advanced concepts in developing solutions.
  • Generate conceptual design in response to client enquiries.
  • Develop final design to meet project requirements.
  • Preparation of scope of work, specification and designing the project.
  • Review and approve scope of work complied by the Design/ CAD Engineers.
  • Ensure timely resolution of all technical problems.
  • Perform design calculations and technical analyses.
  • Reciprocate review of the drawings prepared in another region in conjunction with AP identifying issues and ambiguities advising when corrections have been completed.
  • Review breakdown of building elements and allocation of work packages between Dubai and another region.
  • Review and interpretation of architectural & primary steelwork drawings for the purpose of preparation of construction design drawings.
  • Review and preparation of fabrication drawings for the purpose of communicating the company's expectations with respect to component design, including dimensional and aesthetic considerations.
  • Review of as-built drawings as required by the client for accuracy and conformity.
  • Review and preparation of three-dimensional models for the purpose of evaluation of design alternatives and material optimisation.
  • Review of take-off schedules for the purpose of verification of measure and for use in Procurement.
  • Review drawing submittal program in coordination with Design Draftsmen team leaders to ensure conformity with the program.
  • In conjunction with another region review all QA/QC reports generated by contractors and projects and assist in providing solutions to resolve, including inclusions and exclusions.
  • Preparation of technical reports and presentations.
  • Other duties associated with the position.

3. FUNCTION AND LEVEL OF AUTHORITY:

  • Manage and supervise all the design personnel in relation with the project requirements, compliance with the client requirements and submittal for bidding.
  • Coordinates with the project team to facilitate design changes in the field have been documented and are updated in the DCD in a timely manner.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the technical flow of data with designers, multiple contractors and/or field personnel.
  • Perform additional virtual construction tasks to support construction management duties, examples include: supporting Jobsite Safety Program, supplementing Quality Management Processes, Permitting, Production Planning efforts or Document Control.
