We're looking for a Project Director to join our Highways team based in Penrith as part of a high performing team helping deliver Major Projects as part of the A66 Scotch Corner to Penrith scheme. (Value of work circa £1.3bn). As part of enterprise working, this project will be delivered in a collaborative environment, with a strong digital agenda, working alongside other Tier 1 contractors on the Regional Delivery Partnership (RDP) North Framework. This project is a key part of the Major Projects business portfolio within the highways sector and the successful applicant will be responsible for scheme delivery, client liaison, the management of consultants and stakeholders and have previous experience of managing contracts and self-delivering works. Responsibilities

As a Project Director, you'll lead and manage a team with responsibility for managing all phases of the project, from contract award to close out, ensuring adherence to all contractual requirements and ensuring customer care and business excellence

Your day to day will include:
  • assist the Estimators or Bid Managers on all aspects tendering and advise on construction methodology, programming, and staffing
  • responsible for appointing, instructing, monitoring and co-ordinating Subcontractors during the contract period
  • responsible for the resolution of technical problems and ensuring work is carried out to the correct specification and Quality Assurance standards
  • attendance at regular meetings to ensure clear communication channels are in place, to report on progress; identify problems encountered and any variations to project both internally and externally
  • promoting the wellbeing of your teams and ensure that an inclusive workplace where diversity of thought, backgrounds and experience is actively encouraged and achieved
