Kier Places are looking to recruit a Project Manager who has gained a wealth of experience covering a range of services, but experience in mixed trade projects (M&E and fabric) would be beneficial.
The client that this role will support is Wiltshire County Council across a portfolio of 400 properties. Although the role is predominantly covering Wiltshire, the successful candidate may be required to spend time away overnight when the business requires, and will include both onsite, office & video meetings where required.
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, we will look to you to ensure our client's needs are met and project delivery is to a good standard, whilst developing and maintaining business relationships, and overseeing multiple concurrent schemes of works of Construction and Refurbishment nature, with a range of value between £10k to £200k. The successful candidate should have a previous trade and be able to understand all aspects of commercial project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
As a trusted Project Manager, you will support the implementation of H&S management systems, meet SHE targets at project level, including conducting contractor and site audits, and consult & assist the site team in effective planning to ensure good operational health and safety is achieved. You will be accountable for appointing, instructing, monitoring and coordinating subcontractors and technical consultants; and undertake asset condition audits to promote an accurate forward maintenance register (FMR) to support a proactive pipeline of works.
As well as this, you will be focused on being responsible for financial control of projects, ensuring P&L tracking requirements are met, effective risk and opportunity management, and ensuring commercial aspects and targets of the project are communicated.
In order to effectively collaborate within this rewarding environment, you will undertake temporary works coordinator duties (TWC); proactively offer energy efficient, sustainable solutions, and maintain awareness of any new corporate responsibility activities.
What do we need from you?
The ideal candidate will have a background in a similar services type environment, a high level of knowledge in relevant subjects, or be willing to undertake training; have a good understanding of the company, its products, and its organisation both geographical and structural; and a substantial background as a project manager with experience of delivering low to high value projects or varying scopes within a similar contract.
You should also have experience of developing & maintenance business relationships whilst overseeing several schemes, and have the ability to write a scope of works for tender purposes. The role will include scoping, tendering, tender analysis and delivery of all aspects of multi-trade works. It would be beneficial if you have experience working with local authorities or government.
We are also seeking those with Construction Design Management (CDM) & New Engineer Contract 3 (NEC3) experience; Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or equivalent; IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH; industry relevant qualifications, including qualifications such as Prince 2 or equivalent, and ; and a high level of IT skills to include in Word/Excel and MPP (Project Programming).
