Project Manager - Highways | Temporary | Suffolk


Are you an experienced Project Manager with extensive highways experience? We are seeking a skilled professional to join a major infrastructure project in Suffolk. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a nationally significant development, delivering change in the UK's transition to a low-carbon future.

Duration: 6 months (potential extension)
Working Hours: 40 hours per week
Rate: £320 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Onsite Requirement: 5 days per week (no remote working)


Key Responsibilities:

  • Define project scope and ensure alignment with programme requirements.
  • Develop and manage robust project schedules, budgets, and risk plans.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, contractors, and partners for seamless project execution.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, ensuring timely identification and resolution of issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and contractual obligations.
  • Facilitate effective governance, documentation, and review processes.
  • Promote continuous improvement and capture lessons learned.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in project management of major infrastructure projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of highways schemes within the Design Manual for Roads & Bridges (DMRB) framework.
  • Experience working in regulated highway environments such as local authorities or National Highways.
  • Proven ability to deliver S278 and S106 works.
  • Understanding of Chapter 8 traffic management regulations (NRSWA qualification desirable).
  • Strong experience in managing utility works within public highways.
  • Professional project management qualification (e.g., APM PMQ).
  • Proficiency in cost control, risk management, and schedule management.
  • Working knowledge of CDM Regulations.
  • Familiarity with NEC and FIDIC commercial arrangements.


Additional Requirements:

  • BPSS security clearance (or ability to obtain clearance).
  • One-week notice period maximum.
