Breedon are looking for a Project Manager to help us with delivering transformational projects to improve our Finance Systems.
The ideal candidate will have recent experience in Finance and will also have been part of a Systems Implementation project team. You will need to be able to use a variety of Project Management tools in order to successfully delivery large scale projects across multiple divisions in the group and you will also need to be able to embed continuous improvement methodology in working practices to assist the group with forward thinking.
The role will provide project management services to key projects being delivered to various operations and divisions across the Breedon Group. Part of Business Services function, the role will we ensure that projects are delivered to time, cost, and quality and that the benefits are realised by the client. Covering a wide and diverse range of Finance and Continuous Improvement projects the role holders will need to employ the right level of governance to ensure delivery, as well as demonstrating excellent stakeholder management, project planning techniques and risks and issue management to ensure the successful delivery of the project objectives.
KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE ROLE:
- To ensure the successful delivery of the project to time, cost, and quality
- Be able to communicate complex problems and issues simply
- Managing key stakeholder relationships and keeping the client informed throughout
- Ability to instill confidence in delivery with the end client and key stakeholders
- Chairing Project boards and other meeting with internal teams
- Co-ordinate with external third-party vendors (e.g. DCS, Touchstone) and with internal teams (e.g. IT, Accounts Payable)
- Implementing key PMO governance practices such as creating the core documentation associated with the project i.e. Charter, Business Change plan
- Risk, Issue and Dependency management - Escalating to the Steering Group as needed
- Develop, lead, track and direct the project plan
- Regularly reviews the project (i.e. Design & Build phases) to ensure completion on time
- Cost Management to ensure the project considers all elements of the delivery
- Thinking outside the box and bringing innovation to delivery to drive Breedon forward across its digital, process and people footprint
- Encourage and coach team members to develop their skills, giving regular feedback and providing challenging learning experiences
- Understand and appreciate the commercial implications and drivers across Breedon and incorporate these within decision making
- Adopt and foster a 'Change Mentality' and inspire other people to take the same approach
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:
- Leading complex projects across multiple divisions in an organisation
- Implement projects in a diverse and quick pace organisation
- Experience of delivering Finance and Continuous Improvement initiatives across a variety of systems and business processes
- SunSystems and Findocs experience is desired
- Previous accountancy experience would be of benefit
- Ability to juggle multiple projects at once
- Communicating to senior stakeholders (Steering Group and MDs) simply
- Good written and presentational skills in a range of methods
- Ability to pick up and learn new business systems quickly
- Knowledge of finance processes and systems
- Knowledge of procurement processes and systems
- Implementing key PMO practices and governance standards
- Demonstrating clear and effective communication approach with the ability to engage & influence throughout an organisation

- Analytical thinking - Ability to problem solve and to be able to identify, resolve and convey complex problems simply, to aid in rapid issue resolution, thinking beyond the obvious solution
- Decision making - Can make rational and informed decisions on the best course of action to be able to take the initiative, drive action and be responsible for the consequences of the decisions made. Ability to liaise with MD/FD level to operational level colleagues to galvanise consensus on approaches
- Planning and organising - Are self-managing and can think ahead to establish an effective, efficient, and appropriate courses of action. Ability to prioritise and plan activities by considering all the relevant issues and factors
- Resilience - Can maintain personal effectiveness by dealing with setbacks or when dealing with difficult situations. Can demonstrate an approach to work that is characterised by commitment and motivation. Have a 'Can-Do' mentality to resolve problems & challenges
- Communication -The ability to get messages across clearly by adopting a range of communication styles, tools, and techniques which are appropriate to the audience
- Managing Relationships - Able to liaise with clients & pro-actively manage the client relationship to build effective working relationships. Open to new ideas and with a viewpoint that 'anything is possible'.
