Do you want to help create the stories that make the headlines?
Laing O'Rourke has a fantastic opportunity to join its national proposals team. Behind every pursuit is a team effort that channels the expertise of our business. Our proposals team is where this expertise converges, collaborating with our internal bid teams to co-create proposals that compel our clients to choose us.
In each and every case, effective writing plays a crucial part. That is where you feature in this story. You, the experienced writer, the collaborator, the one whose sharp focus and determination stands out from the crowd.
Do you want to be part of a high-performing team bidding to deliver some of UK's most iconic new buildings and infrastructure? Do you want to work in an organisation with a positive bid culture, where the skills and expertise of the proposals team is acknowledged and respected alongside subject matter experts?
You will have either a humanities or technical degree, but what is most important is that you have a joy for writing, a passion for learning, get a buzz from collaboration and respond well to the energy of a deadline.
In return, you get to work on a diverse array of pursuits, develop your proposals and bid skills and benefit from opportunity for career progression within our team.
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Develop, write and edit high quality material that responds to client needs and articulates win themes through understanding client needs and scoring criteria
- Collaborate with bid team and functional subject matter experts (SMEs) through answer planning, coaching, interviews and workshops to translate technical narratives into simple, client-focused responses
- Participate in response review sessions; provide feedback to SMEs/bid teams to ensure their solutions meet the response requirements and marking criteria
- Ensure consistency through the use of a house style and glossary
- Check and proof-read final copy prior to submission and finalise responses within bid submission deadlines
- Review and edit evidence pieces and other bid collateral to help others, highlighting exemplar responses and evidence for our collateral management system
- Capture lessons learnt - identify issues blocking success, share learning, make necessary changes
Candidate success profile:
- Collaborative worker with excellent, accurate written and verbal communication skills
- Innovative thinker who can contribute positively
- Attention to detail, to ensure we fully answer and evidence every question
- Organised and able to manage tight deadlines
- Takes pride in their work and enthuses others
- Curious to learn from feedback, share insights and continually improve
Our national team works from both our Dartford and Manchester offices, so this position can be based from either location. It is a full time role with the opportunity for hybrid working, split between office and home.
