Publicity and Corporate Responsibility Manager

Location: Exeter or Plymouth


We are currently looking to recruit Publicity and Corporate Responsibility Manager to be based from our Plymouth or Exeter offices with regular to different locations as required.

This role would suit an experienced specialist who has a proven track record of engaging with a wide range of clients/stakeholders using both innovative and tried-and-tested techniques. We are looking for an individual with huge amounts of energy and enthusiasm for using marketing and communications solutions to support the delivery of clear business objectives. The successful candidate must have exceptionally high level of writing skill, a willingness and experience to deliver much of the activity themselves, with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver a range of marketing, engagement and communications activities to support delivery of the business strategy.
  • Act as an advisor on marketing, engagement and communications to senior colleagues working in multi-discipline teams across the business.
  • Provide expertise and assistance to support the bid process.
  • Liaise with the Kier external relations team (media and PR) to advise on approach/responses to media.
  • Manage the key external communications channels.
  • Produce collateral to assist with the dissemination of messages to external audiences.
  • Regularly monitor, measure and report back on the impact of marketing and communications activity.
  • Work responsibility, flexibility and collaboratively within the Marketing/Communications team.
  • Support crisis communications as and when required.
  • Undertake other tasks and projects as appropriate to the role.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • An experienced writer able to produce and QA copy to publishable standards in a variety of formats
  • Experienced in public affairs, public relations and external communications and/or marketing
  • A track record of building productive relationships with external stakeholders/customers
  • A background in communications planning, delivery and channel management
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish strong working relationships with senior level executives
  • Strong negotiator with the ability to influence key external stakeholders/customers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proficient use of English language, both oral and written
  • Excellent influencing and motivating skills
  • Able to demonstrate creativity, diplomacy, dedication, enthusiasm and be action oriented
  • Attention to detail and ability to proof-read effectively
  • Good presentation skills
  • Excellent use of IT including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and competent use of internet, social media etc.
  • Graduate degree level or equivalent
  • Relevant marketing/communications/PR qualification
