Quality Product Engineer

What will the role look like?
- To ensure that all products leaving the business are fully conforming, fit for purpose and meet the minimum Quality standard as set by our business and our customers.
- Support the definition and introduction of a New APQP Product Introduction Gateway process in line with the requirements of our customers.
- To develop quality processes in a dynamic environment, ensuring that they are robust and meet customer and regulatory requirements
- To work with our programmes team to be the prime Quality Engineering contact within projects, supporting the development of production cells to ensure that all Quality aspects are conforming and built through control plans and into process.
- To be able to demonstrate that parts meet customer or regulatory requirements.
- Manage non-conformances for product found during internal manufacture and customer/supplier returns by using the appropriate RCA & CA tools and liaise with customers and suppliers where necessary.
- Support the management of internal and external audits, including leading detailed supplier audits where needed
- Co-manage the calibration log/system for all equipment that require calibration.
- Sign off all products at key stages during manufacture and prior to delivery to customers.
- Support the development of general document control strategy and procedures within the business and building the above defined processes into a Product Data Management system.
- Support the management of internal and external audits and assist the Quality Manager in maintaining our Quality Manual in line with ISO9001/ISO14001 requirements and future new accreditations.
What skills & experience are we looking for?
- Enthusiastic and flexible in performing a wide range of tasks within and sometimes outside of their standard job description.
- Clear open two-way communication skills, with an approachable, positive and pro-active attitude.
- Methodical approach to problem solving, with excellent attention to detail.
- Familiar with all Geometric Tolerancing, and adept at reading and understanding engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experienced in writing clear and concise technical documents, including FMEAs, Process Flows, Control Plans, FAIRs, PPAP, Quality Alert Documents and 8Ds.
- Experience and knowledge of ISO9001 and ISO14001 is critical, with previous AS9100 or TS16949 experience desirable.
- An engineering/technical background and qualification is highly desirable, and a knowledge of materials science would be advantageous.
- Experience of CMM Programming, including Faro or Romer Arm programming and operation would be desirable, as well as NDT techniques.
- PC Literate and able to use or quickly learn packages such as SolidWorks and SAP Business One.
