Laing O'Rourke has a requirement for a permanent Quality Engineer to join our team. Are you an engineering professional who wants to develop your career? Do you have a desire to improve your engineering competency? Then the role at Old Oak Common can support your development.

As part of the HS2 works our specialist division will be working on the main super station hub at Old Oak Common. The main construction of the 850m-long reinforced concrete station box, which will form the frame and the base for the HS2 station building, began on 27 October and will see Expanded excavate 20m below ground level removing 690,000 cubic metres of clay, before placing 32,000 tonnes of steel and pouring 190,000m3 of reinforced concrete. The form of excavation known as "top down" construction allows the ground floor slab to be constructed initially with a series of mole holes allowing access for the large excavators to remove the earth from within. The role has a variety of tasks and operates a self-delivery model rather than subcontractor reliance. You will work with a number of influential people and specialist teams from the civil engineering and rail sector.

Supporting the project delivery to meet the project's quality needs by providing engineering expertise in a rail stations box / civils capacity.

Responsibilities include:

  • Documentation, deployment and improvement of the Subcontractor's Quality Management System;
  • Development and provision of quality related training;
  • Oversee all personnel undertaking quality roles and appointments specified within this Subcontract;
  • Approval of the quality aspects of the Subcontractor's method statements;
  • Provide advice and support relevant to quality management including resolution on nonconformities and complaints;
  • Audit and surveillance duties; Assuring compliance with legal and contractual requirements; Producing information for and attending performance reviews including lessons learnt workshops and reviews with leadership teams to ensure the QMS remains effective and efficient;
  • Being the primary point of contact to the Contractor for quality management;
  • Oversight of the development and deployment of the quality management system of subcontractors including assurance of their works.

  • ISO 9000 expertise and knowledge
  • Chartered, working towards Chartership or a desire to pursue Chartership
