Contract A13 Widening Scheme
Kier Infrastructure is looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor, who will report to the Commercial Manager. The successful post-holders prime function is to increase value, reduce cost, drive profit and manage risk in a safe and ethical manner of the contract(s) they are working on. The role will primarily will concentrate on procurement and subcontractor management initially.
Key Responsibilities
- Procuring subcontractors. Including sending out enquiries, collating prices, undertaking comparisons, comparing with tender allowances, negotiation, order placement, agreement of account and payment
- Review of subcontract documentation and contractual correspondence
- Managing Subcontractors. Including valuing and certifying interim payments of subcontractor accounts, monitoring of such accounts against forecasts, preparing and agreeing / negotiating final accounts
- Implementation and compliance with the subcontract change control procedures and monitoring thereof including notices to as appropriate
- Hold strong and collaborative relationships with subcontractors, arrange and attend meetings as required, including progress meetings with supply chain etc
- Production of commercial reports together with review of results and consideration of trends with other contract team members
- Ensure cash flow is maximised including ensuring payments are received on time
- Provide commercial input including financial and contractual performance forecasts to the management team
- Commercial and contractual advice to the team as and when required
- Carry out any other duties not identified above and as required by their manager
- Support to assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risks and implement Kier Group's policies for risk management
- Implement all Kier Group's policies including those for SHE and risk management
- Promote Kier Group's values towards its customers to meet or exceed their expectations
- Line management and integration of new team members where appropriate
- Holder of a Full UK Drivers Licence
- Educated to Degree level and holds the relevant qualifications (Degree in Quantity Surveying)
- Experience within a similar role in the Construction Industry
- Experience within Highways, especially large value highways schemes.
- Experience working within a Tier 1 Main Contractor preferred
- Minimum 4 years' experience required
- Confident IT skills, proficient in the use of MS Office in particular Excel
- Excellent Communication skills both written and verbally
- Must be an excellent organiser with proven time management skills
- Must be flexible in hours of work and travel
