Location: Flexible working available, where you will be based out of our Loughton office with home working available and some travel to other offices and sites across London 3+ days a week

Business Area: Kier Places - Housing Maintenance - various housing association & local authorities contracts

Contract & hours: Permanent, full time, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week



Kier Places are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Housing Maintenance division, to uphold and maintain the commercial wellbeing of our contracts, to reduce cost, increase value, drive revenue/profits, mitigate against risk in a safe and ethical manner, and to become a key member of the FRA & Compliance Planned Maintenance & Responsive Repairs Maintenance team who deliver essential fire safety and key compliance planned maintenance works as well as responsive repairs maintenance works across a variety of contracts.



Key Responsibilities

As a trusted and focused Quantity Surveyor, your role will be key to supporting the respective Senior / Managing Quantity Surveyor & Commercial Manager through ownership of Value Cost Reconciliations (VCR/CVR); develop and manage all commercial aspects of projects including budgets and forecasts to ensure the governance and profitability of allocated contracts; develop, manage and extend commercial relationships with both new and existing clients and supply chain; maximise profitability of all allocated contracts and work packages; and provide accurate commercial reporting to allow effective management of your projects, whilst identifying any areas of risk and mitigation.



These contracts include works for maintaining &upgrading fire safety systems (i.e. fire stopping works, fire alarms, doors & sprinkler systems), kitchen & bathroom replacements, refurbishment of voids & occupied properties, and day-to-day repairs such as gas, boiler, plumbing & heating systems, carpentry, fabric & decorative repairs, and other general home repairs.



What do we need from you?

Is this your opportunity for the taking? To be a Quantity Surveyor with Kier Housing Maintenance, you should have strong experience with building & maintaining relationships with clients and subcontractors; strong knowledge of the VCR/CVR & overall QS process; good knowledge of Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) and/or National Housing Federation (NHF) schedule of rates; the ability to give reliable forecasting & valuations; and the ability to give value for money without compromising Health & Safety and customer satisfaction across the contracts.

Ideally, you'll have experience with planned maintenance, reactive maintenance or responsive repair contracts within the housing maintenance, social housing, decent homes or property maintenance sector.
