Quantity Surveyor Job in Milton Keynes

We have a new opportunity for Quantity Surveyor to join a growing regional 5-Star housebuilder based at their office near Letchworth, working on one of their long-term developments of 650 units in Didcot. Offering a package of up to £50,000 + 10% discretionary bonus, further scope for progression and flexible/remote working. The role would suit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to progress or an existing Quantity Surveyor. Ideally, you will be located between Letchworth and Didcot in Milton Keynes / Aylesbury areas.

They currently deliver 500 units per year and aim to reach 800 units per annum in the next couple of years, delivering 5-Star quality homes across the Southeast. They offer support for candidates who would like to pursue their RICS APC to MRICS status as well as a competitive benefits package. The role will be part site based in Didcot and office based in Letchworth with some flexibility to work remotely.

Role & Responsibilities

- Establish a Subcontractor Register for site/s

- Manage subcontractor tenders

- Arrange and attend sub-contractor meetings and arrange all necessary paperwork

- Produce the building estimate for each site, within 12 weeks of site commencement, in liaison with the Senior Quantity Surveyor

- Ensure all costs known at the time of preparing the estimate are included either as actual amounts or provisions, including current sales values and or estimated costs

- Present final draft to Building Director with analysis to previous estimates

- Analyse, amend and input data in the costing system to compile monthly build cost reviews

- Manage variances and update provisions to accommodate variations/changes so an accurate final cost forecast is prepared

- Manage Subcontractor payments and authorise interim valuations to enable payments to be made by the Accounts Department

- Compile monthly cost reports

- Carry out regular site visits to monitor works completed so valuations/applications can be checked for accuracy

Required Skills & Experience

- 3+ years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor (the role would suit a competent Assistant Quantity Surveyor ready to progress or an existing Quantity Surveyor)

- Experience working for a housebuilder or main contractor with residential housebuilding experience

- Experience in working on developments from pre-contract through to final accounts

- RICS Accredited Degree or equivalent

- UK Driving Licence
