Quantity Surveyor Job in Oxfordshire / Remote Working
Quantity Surveyor job in Oxfordshire / Remote Working for a leading UK timber systems sub-contractor, serving mainly the housebuilding sector, across the UK. They are looking for either a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor with experience working for a sub-contractor, developer or housebuilder preferably with experience in timber systems/timber frame experience. The role offers a salary of between £45,000 - £60,000 + Car Allowance of £4500 or Company Car + Discretionary Bonus + Remote working.
The Group is made up 11 businesses operating across 48 locations throughout the UK. Their timber systems business was established in 1860 and have a capacity to manufacture for 10,000 houses per year, supplying to both regional and national house builders and contractors. This role can be based out of their Oxfordshire or Milton Keynes offices, working part remotely, site/client visits and part from office if at Senior Quantity Surveyor level or fully remote / site based if at Quantity Surveyor level.
Role & Responsibilities
- Working within cross-functional teams and with the commercial team, you will deliver projects to the correct price and quality, on or ahead of programme and within budget
- Undertaking the pre-construction activities including agreeing the price, payment terms, terms & conditions generally and ultimately the contract documents
- Agreeing prices and services with our sub-contracted Installers some of whom work within the context of a Framework
- Making payments to our Installers
- Day to day Contract Administration including variations, applications for payment and notices.
- Liaising with the finance team on our cash collection
- Manage commercial risks
- Report project costs through a Monthly Cost Report (MCR)
- Contribute to value engineering and cost management, in areas such as materials, transport, site plant, labour costs
- Monitoring and reporting project costs and progress.
Required Skills & Experience
- Quantity Surveyor experience with a sub-contractor (main contractor and housebuilder also considered if you want to make the transition to subcontracting)
- Housebuilding experience essential
- Preferably experience in timber systems / offsite manufacturing
- Excellent client-facing experience
- Contract administration experience
- Cost forecasting, cost reduction, cost management, cost reporting and variations experience to final account settlement
- Preferably educated to Degree level in construction/quantity surveying
- Proficient in Microsoft Office / ERP Systems.
