A brand new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Project Delivery team in York! As a Quantity Surveyor, you will proactively manage the financial and contractual aspects of projects and drive continuous improvement of the commercial function. Reporting to the Managing Surveyor, you will work closely with multi-disciplined teams and take commercial responsibility and ownership for the projects to ensure their successful delivery, whilst maintaining relationships, maximising commercial returns, and managing risk. Role Details
  • Salary: Up to £60,000 + Company car and annual bonus
  • Role based: York, YO32
  • Contract type: Permanent
  • Annual leave: 25 days plus bank holidays
Role Responsibilities
  • Project cost management (including value engineering proposals) and cost forecasting (internal & external reporting).
  • Manage procurement of project subcontractors in conjunction with project buyer (where applicable).
  • Contract administration including issuing of notices, correspondence etc as applicable.
  • Lead on cashflow management including submission of applications for payment to clients and notification of payments to subcontractors.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the supply chain.
  • Maximise project revenue, minimise cost and enhance margin.
  • Protect company contractual position with both client & supply chain

Our Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who has:
  • A Degree in Quantity Surveying/ Commercial Management or another related construction degree
  • Previous experience in a quantity surveying role within the UK construction industry
  • Understanding of traditional construction methods
  • Understanding of project delivery phases and associated quantity surveying actions
  • Demonstrable experience of administrating JCT and/or NEC contracts independently
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective time management, organisational, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • The ability to take full responsibility for all aspects of a construction project
