Summary

We have an exciting new opportunity at Gleeson for a Regional SHE Manager, the purpose of this role is to provide a holistic approach to the systematic management, governance and assessment of all Health & Safety and designated Environmental aspects embedded within operating practices to ensure Gleeson and, its operating businesses and employees comply with their statutory obligations.

To provide subject matter, expert advice to the regional management teams in protecting the integrity, reputation, sustainability, and performance of the Group's approach to Health & Safety.

Main Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of the position:

· As a member of the regional management team, take a 'whole company' perspective to the performance of Building Homes. Changing Lives, being a Gleeson Ambassador for our vision, mission, values and approach to performance excellence via the Gleeson Competency framework and positively influencing and enhancing the profitability and operative effectiveness of the business.

· To provide advice and guidance to regional management on all matters of SHE devising, implementing and embedding appropriate control measures and approaches that support the HomeSafe culture and always ensure that the business and its people comply with responsibilities under Health & Safety and Environmental policies and processes and understand the impact of these on customers/external partners/stakeholders.

· In undertaking a continuous review, monitor and advise on the overall effectiveness of SHE policy, pro-cedures and activity, associated risk management and control and governance processes and ensure these are implemented by the regional management team.

· Liaise closely on a daily/weekly basis with Group SHE Operations Manager to ensure Group SHE function is kept updated on all SHE matters and provide a weekly SHE status report to the Group Head of SHE.

· Ensure SHE inspections are completed to assess and audit the application of all HomeSafe operating standards, governance requirements, policies and processes and subsequently oversee the implementation and management of necessary remediation actions plans and communications that address any matters that undermine and/or put 'at risk' our strategic and/or operational health and safety objectives and standard.

· Maintain liaison with the Health & Safety Executive and other enforcement or advisory agencies and represent and promote the Group at Health & Safety Management level on industry accredited bodies and representative groups.

· Provide key status reports and updates to the regional management team on all matters relating to Health and Safety activity, policy, procedures, instructions, associated risk management and control and govern-ance processes across the region.


· Ensure that critical performance information and an effective flow of communication is evident and effec-tively managed within the region so that all directors, teams, stakeholder groups and delivery partners understand their role, performance contribution and the requirements upon them to safely execute agreed Gleeson plans, initiatives and change programmes that deliver efficiencies and performance im-provement.

· Lead by example, upholding our values and creating followership for others to become role models to implement, uphold and promote our operating procedures and behavioural and leadership standards.

· Be an Ambassador of the HomeSafe culture and ensure that at all times the region and their people comply with responsibilities under the Health & Safety and Environmental policies and processes and understand the impact of these on customers/external partners/stakeholders.


· Lead the delivery of a step change in SHE operating performance and ability to deliver its Business Plan and growth requirements developing strategies for maintaining such performance

· Evidence of leading effective continuous improvement plans and change management which contributes to improved business performance.

· Evidence of being a senior ambassador of the Gleeson culture, business model and values

· Evidence of creating a high-performance culture and high employee engagement through application of competency practices and any other activities or processes.

· Delivering a transparent approach to business opportunities, issues and risk being solution focused.

Ideal Candidate

· A relevant SHE qualification and SHE experience in leading a successful and sustainable residential house

building operation.

· A proven track record of developing productive relationships with a variety of stakeholders and capable

of influencing at all levels.

· Experience of introducing policies, procedures, processes and systems effectively; and enabling positive cultural change

· Proven experience of establishing a positive health and safety culture in a complex, multi-site organiza-tion

· In-depth knowledge of H&S legislation and best practice and requirements.

· Knowledge of construction processes and related activities

· Ability to influence effectively at all levels including key Senior Executives, Directors, and other Stakehold-ers.

· Ability to work closely with regional management team and Central Services support functions.
