Protocol is working closely with a Further Education College based in the West Yorkshire area to recruit dedicated and driven Salon Technician.
In this role you will provide assistance to the academic staff and students in the Hairdressing, Barbering and Beauty Therapy area within the Professional Services & Leisure Department in the ordering of stock and equipment, preparation of practical sessions for various courses.
This role is starting mid-November working 30 hours per week on the following days: Monday & Tuesday 10:00-18:00, Wednesday 13:00-16:00pm, Thursday 12:00-16:30 and Friday 08:30-16:30.
This is temporary cover needed until the permanent position has been filled.
Responsibilities include:
-Day to day supervision of the commercial salons and the spa including the laundry from the salons.
-Order and manage materials and resources needed for the curriculum area, keeping inventory checks.
-To maintain appropriate records and inventories for stock control purposes.
- Prepare learning spaces and salons ready for learners and clients, including the laundry from the salons.
- Promote commercial offers to broaden client base.
- Support teachers and students in preparing and maintaining the College salons and SPA for lessons and client sessions for various courses.
- To operate the salon reception and supporting students when they are working on reception duties (also any other required associated duties).
- To carry out duties commensurate with the post of Technician, responsible to the lecturers and Curriculum Area Manger (CAM).
- To implement and promote College regulations, policies and procedures.
- To assist the teaching staff and CAM with costings and ordering equipment when specified.
- Additional duties relating to the post not mentioned above, to be negotiated with the Curriculum Area Manager.
The person & qualifications
- Must be qualified in Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy.
- Must have experience of working in Hair Salons/Barbers or Spa facilities.
- Be first aid trained (desirable but not essential).
- Hold a DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
