Kier Local Highways are looking to recruit a Scoping Assistant to join the Shropshire Council highways maintenance contract.

Kier Highways design roads, bridges and intelligent transport systems (ITS), covering strategic and nationally important roads, as well as local roads serving local communities. Our projects range from major improvements to complete renewals of roads and structures. With specialist teams, we manage complex works from conception through to handover at the end of maintenance periods.
Job Purpose:
To assist in scheme scoping and the submission of quotations in order to create an accurate Task Order.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consultation with Client and attendance at meetings within agreed timescales.
- Assess Clients and Designers documents for validity.
- Good understanding of the requirements of pricing highway maintenance and improvement schemes and activities.
- Scoping of schemes over a defined value.
- Follow an analytical estimating approach in accordance with company standards.
- Knowledge and understanding of Highways MoM and specifications.
- Preparation of Budget Costs for future schemes and cyclical activities.
- Produce Summary report on quotations and out turn costs/profit.
- Carry out on-site inspections as part of scoping process.
- Agree scope and develop collaborative working with Supply Chain.
- Liaison with Supply Chain and internal resources such as Programme Manager and Commercial Manager to maximise effectiveness of delivery.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a highways commercial environment.
- Commercial awareness.
- Meet deadlines
- Health and Safety awareness
- Competent IT skills.
- Good communication and negotiation skills.
- Valid Driving Licence.
