Senior Building Surveyor Job in Sevenoaks, Kent
Senior Building Surveyor job based in Sevenoaks, Kent for a growing multidisciplinary consultancy, joining their busy Fire and Asset Management team. Our reputable consultancy client is looking for an experienced Senior Building Surveyor with current MRICS or MCIOB and experience working on major residential refurbishment and cladding / façade projects, carrying out contract administration/project management duties for their Housing Association, Local Authority, Developer and housebuilder clients in London and The South East.
The consultancy offers a multitude of services including project management, surveying, cost consultancy, and design management, and specialise in residential and affordable housing projects for RPs, Local Authorities and developers. With over 100 employees and 4 offices, they are continuing to grow with a strong pipeline of work across London, Midlands and the Southeast.
Role & Responsibilities
- Liaise closely with Clients, Contractors, Developers, Clerk of Works and other key stakeholders, to manage surveys and remediation work
- Prepare designs on Contract Administration projects, taking account of Client brief, tenants requirements and design proposals both pre and post contract
- Assist in the growth, development management and structure of a small team, drawing upon team leadership skills and experience
- Provide support to wider team on technical and contract issues
- Working on and auditing a Quality Management system
- Assist the Director with Business Development
- Deal with/organising all pre-contract investigations, surveys and other due diligence issues required by Clients, including sustainability issues
- Production of the Project Execution Plan
- Chair and minute pre-contract meetings and site meetings
- Project manage where applicable other consultants or staff on behalf of client
- Undertake all client funding and developments control requirements
- Prepare detailed specification of works, performance specification, building regulations and contract drawings
- Amend contracts, prepare Build Agreements and JCT contracts
- Tendering (single & 2-stage) including procurement analysis and reporting
- Prepare and issue Contract documents
- Ensure the appropriate stage invoices are issued
- Use of NBS specification writing
- Regular site inspections and reporting
- Issue of relevant instructions, certificates and notices
- Assess contractor payment applications and advise client on cashflow forecast
- Co-ordinate management of projects, ensuring timely and satisfactory delivery to Clients
- Prepare Final Accounts (claims where applicable) and issue final statements.
Required Skills & Experience
- Ideally 7+ years' as a Building Surveyor / Project Manager
- MRICS or MCIOB
- Contract Administration experience from pre-contract to completion
- Asset Management experience
- Experienced in small and large-scale remedial cladding projects
- Experienced in specifications
- Knowledge of / experience in fire protection
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- UK Driving Licence and Own Car.
