LOCATION: SITE BASED, NORFOLK

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Building Surveyor to join a pioneering and sustainable rural estate in the heart of Norfolk. This company, known for its extensive land and property-based activities, is seeking a dedicated professional to manage a variety of building projects while ensuring the preservation of heritage buildings. The Senior Building Surveyor will play a crucial role in balancing sympathetic upkeep and restoration with budgetary considerations, making this a unique position for those passionate about heritage and sustainability.

The Senior Building Surveyor will be responsible for overseeing projects from inception to completion, working closely with internal clients and external contractors. This role offers the chance to contribute to the management of a diverse range of properties, including the popular Grade I listed site, and to engage with statutory bodies to ensure compliance and quality.

Responsibilities Included

- Serve as the principal advisor for Holkham Hall and other heritage buildings, providing expert knowledge on building pathology and needs.
- Act as the main contact for statutory bodies, including Historic England and local authorities.
- Manage the end-to-end project process, including preparation of specifications, tender management, and contractor supervision.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and maintain quality standards through regular reviews.
- Report on project progress, identifying and managing risks while setting appropriate KPIs.

Skills and Attributes

- Chartered Building Surveyor with experience in managing a variety of building types.
- Strong technical understanding of heritage and listed buildings, with a proven track record in project management.
- Excellent written communication skills and proficiency in IT.
- Effective stakeholder management and leadership skills to guide contractors and consultants.
- Keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
