As the senior Electrical QS, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the electrical cost management and quantity surveying activities for the project. Your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborate closely with the estimation team to review and validate electrical cost estimates for each project.
- Manage all aspects of electrical cost control and identify potential commercial risks and ensure prompt reporting of same to management.
- Conduct cost analysis and value engineering exercises to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Monitor and track electrical project costs, including variations, change orders, and progress payments both upstream and downstream.
- Collaborate with the estimation / BIM team to ensure accurate quantity take-offs and bills of quantities for electrical systems and installations in each project.
- Review electrical drawings and specification revisions to ensure any changes are identified.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to assess electrical work progress, validate quantities, and address any discrepancies.
- Evaluate subcontractor's claims and prepare reports on quantities, rates, and payment applications.
- Administer the contract for each project in collaboration with the project team, ensuring compliance with contract terms and conditions.
- Review and analyse contractual agreements, identifying key contractual obligations, milestones, and deliverables.
- Manage the contractual correspondence, including change orders, claims, and dispute resolution, in coordination with the project team.
- Collaborate with the legal / compliance team to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and implement systems for tracking labour resources and performance on electrical works for each project.
- Monitor labour productivity, efficiency, and performance to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures.
- Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to gather labour-related data and analyse productivity trends.
- Prepare reports on labour S/E, productivity, and performance indicators for each project individually.
- Generate regular cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections for electrical works.
- Maintain accurate records of all electrical cost-related documents, contracts, and correspondence.
- Prepare and present cost reports to project stakeholders, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
- Assist in the preparation of final accounts and settlement of claims.
- Collaborate with the project team, including Contracts Manager, electrical engineers, BIM, project managers, to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior quantity surveyors and contribute to their professional development.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers to address any electrical cost-related queries or issues.
Skills and Requirements
- Relevant third level qualification essential in Quantity Surveying/ Construction Economics or related field.
- Proven experience as a Senior Electrical QS on large-scale construction projects, preferably within the semiconductor or industrial facilities sector.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, components, and installation practices.
- Strong expertise in electrical cost control, estimation, and quantity surveying techniques.
- Proficiency in using relevant QS software and tools (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, Countfire, Excel).
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
- Familiarity with local regulations and industry standards related to electrical works.
