Senior Engineer - Hinkley Point C

Scope of works: Drylining, lifts, flooring, blockwork and architectural finishes. MEP interface.

Laing O'Rourke are part of a Joint Venture who are responsible for the Design & Build (D&B) including fit out and handover of the HBX Operations Service Centre (OSC) within Hinkley Point C. The building is a mixed use warehouse/office/laboratory/restaurant and office building which connects to both Unit 1& 2 Turbine Halls via sky bridges.

WE ARE OFFERING MOBILITY / SUBSISTENCE TO THOSE OUTSIDE COMMUTABLE DISTANCE

Role:

  • Understands the Laing O'Rourke Management of Temporary works procedure and contribute to its application.
  • Selects specific items of temporary works. Understands limitations of common TW equipment.
  • Carries out the TWC role for low risk TW schemes.
  • Undertakes the role of TWS for low to medium risk items of temporary works.
  • Produces design briefs for temporary works schemes.
  • Managing a team of between 2 and 4 Section Engineers
  • Utilise and recommend best engineering methods
  • Design process knowledge
  • RAMS
  • Interpret as-built information
  • Provides guidance to less experience staff
  • Completes QA documentation and record keeping
  • Implements ITP requirements
  • Production of method statements or understanding of how they are produced
  • Understanding of materials and plant including call off schedules
  • Aware of site HS&E procedures

Education / Experience:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering Discipline, other construction related degree, or an industry recognised technical or engineering qualification (e.g. HNC, HND, NVQ level 4) plus demonstrable experience in a construction delivery environment.
  • Temporary Works Coordinator
  • Experience working on multi-million pound mixed-use schemes
