We're looking for an Environmental Manager or Senior Environmental Advisor to join our Highways team based in Doxey, Stafford working on HS2 Phase 2a enabling works contract EWC02. The contract delivers highways improvements and survey works to facilitate the construction the main railway. The role will support the Environment and Sustainability Manager to ensure that all environmental requirements and best practice is embedded throughout the design and delivery of works in line with HS2 policies and contract requirements. Location: Doxey, Stafford, agile working available, however as this role supports the construction activities there would be a need to be in the office or on site at least 3 days per week

Contract: Permanent - flexible and part-time hours available if desired, just let us know

Responsibilities

In this role, you'll provide advice to the design, construction teams and subcontractors on reducing environmental impacts and meeting all environmental requirements

Your day to day will include:
  • liaising with design and construction teams to ensure that environmental issues are considered, and mitigation measures are implemented
  • producing environmental plans and documents; reviewing documents produced by other to ensure environmental requirements are met
  • undertaking environmental site inspections to ensure environmental compliance; ensuring any required corrective and preventive actions are implemented
  • reporting environmental incidents and carrying out investigations as required
  • supporting the Environment and Sustainability Manager in maintaining the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System including participation in audits
Who are we looking for?

This role is great for you if have:
  • demonstrable experience working as an Environmental Manager or Advisor or similar role on construction related projects.
  • good communication skills and the ability to influence multidisciplinary teams
  • ability to work autonomously and effectively prioritise a diverse workload
  • excellent team player, adaptable to work across various environmental disciplines
  • willingness to travel to establish relationships and undertake site inspections
