Location: Loughton, Essex
Kier Construction London is looking to recruit a Senior Estimator to support the Loughton office, tendering on some of the most exciting projects in the Capital. The successful applicant will be responsible for the preparation of analytical tenders on a competitive or negotiated basis.
Generally
- Report to the Chief Estimator any unsuitable tenders
- Advise the Chief Estimator of any business opportunities or improvements/innovation for the Company
- Review the status of workload, regional requirements, etc with your team at regular departmental meetings
- Develop and performance manage staff under your control
- Where requested provide cover for the Chief Estimator at the time of his absence
- Manage the development of sound, robust and long term relationships with Clients and Design Teams in line with the general company strategy
- Assist/Manage the production of tender documents
- Attend pre-tender interviews where required
- Provide information to the marketing department as may be requested
- Prepare and lead the compilation of tenders
- Give instruction to your tender team, and any junior members assigned to your department or team
- Advise the Chief Estimator of any tendering difficulties that you or your team are experiencing
- Prepare material in the agreed format for presentation to the Adjudication Panel
- Develop client and consultant relations, including the management of their expectations
- Evaluate risk and prepare a register in conjunction with Contracts Manager, Planner and Co-ordinator (where these persons form part of your tender team)
- Comply with estimating processes to ensure it complies with standing orders
- Work in conjunction with administration staff in preparation of the estimate
- Obtain feedback on both successful and unsuccessful tenders
- Provide input to the handover process from estimating to contract
- Input into the review of supply chain members
- Input into innovation ("finding the edge")
- Attend meetings with Client, Designers, Quantity Surveyor's, etc where necessary
- Carry out negotiations with Clients and/or their representatives within the parameters set out by the management of the Company
- Receive feedback at quarterly contract reviews and visit sites where possible
Individual:
- Appropriate academic and construction qualifications, detailed knowledge of construction in both new and refurbishment work.
- The candidate must be able to confidently communicate with all members of the pre-construction team, directors, clients and consultants.
- Candidate must be able to work to strict deadlines.
