Location: Based at our shared Kier/ UKPN office in Stevenage or South London
Contract: Permanent, Full Time - Hybrid working available
Salary: £70k - £80k depending on experience, plus car/car allowance



Responsibilities
As a Senior Estimator, you'll be working within the Utilities team, supporting our UK Power Network ED2 Alliance in delivering underground power cables, overhead lines, and substation infrastructure projects across the UK Power Networks regions. Project values typically range from £500k to £20m. This role also offers excellent opportunities to develop & progress your career.


Your day to day will include:



· Reviewing and comprehend the project concept & detailed developed designs, construction programme. Identifying various work packages and create bill of quantities based on the project requirements

· Compiling top-down budgets and bottom-up estimates from first principles in-line with Kier guidelines and procedures, by the due deadlines. First principles build-ups should clearly, concisely & confidently illustrate all assumptions / calculations regarding; outputs, labour, plant, materials, management, site set up and subcontract elements. Organising, managing, and contributing to 'Risk & Opportunity' schedules, meetings, and workshops, preparing cashflow forecasts and list of qualifications registers

· Playing a leading role within tender meetings, in submitting and managing bids and for accurate documentation preparation, revision and submission at all required stages through to award of contract, including negotiation stages. Presenting estimates and workings with back up evidence from project design and programme requirements to the client

· Maintaining an up to date understanding of technical, contractual, and commercial developments and continually seeking to win contracts through negotiation, single tender action or by alternative solutions

· Developing relationships with the client - maximising opportunities and profit, where possible. Being able to present work to client on one-on-one basis and reach mutual agreements on price and programme delivery methods





What are we looking for?


This role of Senior Estimator is great for you if have:


· Electrical & Civil engineering background / Engineering degree qualification or equivalent

· Proven experience in a similar role e.g., senior estimator/estimator within the electrical infrastructure industry, which will ideally include involvement in multidisciplinary projects

· Good estimating knowledge of electrical cabling, equipment, sub-station, and associated civils / building, within electrical grid/substation compounds and public highways

· Excellent communication skills at all levels, with ability to build good working relationships with client and others within Kier

· Ability to manage limited time and resources to meet challenging deadlines

· A self-motivated individual able to work with minimum supervision and possessing good communications skills. Must be a good team player but also able to succeed when working alone
