Key sectors for LOR UK Building are Healthcare, Commercial, Life Sciences, Data Centres, Defence, and Prisons.
Our projects incorporate many of the product sets manufactured off site at our Centre of Excellence for Modern Construction. This means we can design and construct buildings that deliver our clients' key drivers of aesthetics, affordability, programme, quality and the reduction of embedded carbon.
We create a partnership with our clients, design teams and supply chain, to fuse new technologies with our digital engineering and DfMA (Design for Manufacture & Assembly) expertise to deliver inspiring places and programme certainty.
What is the opportunity?
- Our highly experienced UK Building estimating function has an opportunity for an Estimator/Senior Estimator to join our Dartford or Sale-based team working on major construction bids and can offer the opportunity to lead bids up to £50M and/or to be part of a larger estimating team on bids c£700M.
What is the working pattern?
- This is a full time role based on a hybrid working pattern between days in an office and working remotely, the proportions of which will vary according to the demands and dynamics of individual bids.
What will the role look like?
- Preparation of major prime cost estimates & estimating support in pre-bid submissions/pre-qualification documents.
- Bid Administration - managing the tendering and estimating process.
- Pricing - establishing a forecast in net prime cost, preliminary costing and cost planning.
- Procurement - exposure to various mechanisms for the procurement of projects.
- Package management - advances skills in supply chain enquiry generation and management.
- 'Value Proposition' - understanding and driving this through opportunities, including Self Delivery, Digital Engineering and DfMA.
- Improving competitiveness - innovative thinking and engaging all disciplines/functions in the work winning process; Design, Commercial, Engineering, Digital Engineering (DE), Procurement, Transformation & Innovation, Planning & HS&E.
What skills & experience are we looking for?
- Experience of estimating procedures through the life of an estimate, through until submission, post tender procedure, award and handover to the delivery team.
- Logical, well organised and able to work to strict deadlines.
- Good written & oral communication skills.
- Extensive use of Estimating software.
