Location: Hinkley Point C
Title: Senior Geologist
Working within the Engineering team, the successful applicant will be primarily tasked with geological mapping and geotechnical data collection from the Deep Excavation void in which the two reactors will sit.
Geological mapping is being carried out in combination with laser scanning and photogrammetry and the datasets are being managed using Arcgis and other appropriate software.
This is a key technical role for the successful delivery of the site works.
The role will involve daily site work as well as site office based record keeping and reporting.
Additional duties will include provision of geological advice to the Earthworks delivery teams including identification of strata and weathering grade, maintenance and updating of geological models, geotechnical inspection, and supervision and oversight of core logging of rock.
Requirements
- Ability to carry out geological mapping and logging of rock to BS 5930 and BS EN ISO 14689
- Familiarity with Arcgis or other GIS software
- Ability to maintain geological records and report geological information
Preferred
- Familiarity with LSS software for surface modelling
- Have managed a small team of Geologist
- Competent IT skills
- Construction site, mining or quarrying experience
- Full UK driving licence
The Individual
You will most likely be from a Mining / Geology background and possess or be working towards a relevant tertiary qualification. You will have in the region of two years relevant post graduate experience. You will enjoy site based outdoor work and will be methodical in your approach to data collection and management and manipulation of geological and geotechnical data.
You should enjoy working within a team, whilst being self motivated and possessing the ability to work on your own initiative, work under pressure and achieve deadlines. You must be adaptable, with excellent communication skills. Above all, you will need to display the enthusiasm, drive and commitment required to make a successful contribution to the Project.
