The post holder will be qualified to degree level (or equivalent experience) - and will be required to manage, create and present complex Information Governance and Data Protection programmes and assessments. There will be the requirement to plan and organise a range of complex activities. The post holder will be required to work closely with NHS organisations at a high level to provide excellent customer service. The post holder will be capable of becoming an experienced, highly motivated and innovative Information Governance and Data Protection Specialist who will support NHS staff and third party provider staff across the NHS and health community. Also expected to support the development of Information Governance strategies and plans in line with the national NHS England and local IG standards.

Qualifications


  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in experience
  • Professionally qualified (ISEB Data Protection or equivalent) or undertaking professional development or prepared to undertake ISEB Data Protection or equivalent (essential)


Knowledge/ Experience

  • - Prior experience of working within the function or in areas that work alongside (Essential)
  • - Experience of completing NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit (desirable)
  • - Evidence of client facing experience (Essential)
  • - Working knowledge of Information Governance/Data Protection within a large and complex organisation
  • - Experience of working with others using a project management approach
  • - Experience of working to and achieving tight deadlines
  • - An understanding and knowledge of the workings of the NHS, the challenges it faces
  • - Experience of working with the NHS (Desirable)
  • - Requires sound analytical skills to understand a range of complex situations, and to convey understanding to others.
  • - Ability to think flexibly to formulate solutions to IG, confidentiality and consent issues.
  • - Ability to work and think on own initiative and to deal with often complex issues surrounding clinical systems and legal obligations placed upon professionals
  • - Knowledge of Information Governance legislation, National and Professional Guidelines including Dept of Health, Information Commissioner, BMA .
  • - Specialist knowledge of Data Protection, Caldicott, Consent, Information Security and governance procedures and protocols.(Essential)
  • - Experience of developing training materials and supporting guidance documents and delivering training to other professionals (Desirable)
  • - Experience of developing policies and guidance
  • - Knowledge of IT/Cyber Security issues and the risks and challenges
  • - Commitment to continued learning
