Business Unit: Kier Mechanical and Electrical
Introduction:
Kier Mechanical & Electrical (KME) are an internal MEP self-delivery business within the Kier group, supporting the internal regional businesses across the UK and the Strategic Projects business on complex and challenging projects. The business has a full design, construct and commissioning capability.
We are looking to recruit a Senior Mechanical Engineer, to join our delivery team on our Pirbright project. The project is a c.£70M scheme with c.£25M MEP across the project. The project is a new build containment and laboratories for the Pirbright Institute. The project will require extensive commissioning and demonstration. The project is currently in the early stages of construction with planned completion November 2021 and a commissioning period up to May 2022.
The role will report to a MEP Section Project Manager and have the full responsibility for the MEP delivery of the mechanical services supported by and electrical biased colleague with further responsibilities for management and control of off-site manufacture production, logistics and installation.
Key Responsibilities:
Project specific- MEP lead for Kier in the management of schemes where MEP delivery is solely by external subcontractors, managing a small Kier MEP delivery management team and reporting to the project senior management team
- Safe management and control of the services installation under your responsibility
- Quality Assurance and Quality Control of the works
- Management of programme sequence and delivery milestones
- Equipment technical appraisals and compliancy reviews
- Co-ordination of the installation and associated supply chain recourse
- Risk identification Mitigation and management
- Weekly progress and performance reports
- Management of design information and change control
- Commissionability reviews.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Holds the relevant industry qualifications: Trade/HNC/HND etc.
- At least 5 years' experience in a similar role
- Demonstrate experience in management and control of multiple Sub-contractor controlling performance, safety, quality, productivity and programme
- Demonstrate good organisational skills
- Programme and Sequence management, with understanding of key interfaces and risks and ability to report on these.
- Ability to communicate technical and none-technical information relative to audience.
- High level of competence in digital construction methods BIM & Field tools
- Demonstrate commercial awareness and Risk Management.
- Minimum of SMSTS or equivalent levels of SHE qualification
- Experience in safe control of mechanical systems.
