Job Description

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network infrastructure solutions that support organizational operations and growth. This role involves leading the architecture, deployment, and management of complex network systems, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.

  • The Qualifications We Seek

  • Preferably with 5 to 10+ years of experience as a Network Engineer in a Telecom company or Internet Service Provider.
  • Certification in CCNP/JNCIS or equivalent discipline is required; ITIL Certification/IT Service Management is a plus.
  • Expertise in Cisco, HP, Aruba, Juniper, Mikrotik routers, and switches.
  • Strong command of routing protocols (Default, Static, OSPF, BGP, etc.).
  • Advanced knowledge of switching and Layer 2 protocols (Ethernet, VLAN, MPLS, VxLAN, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Firewall/Next-Gen Firewall technologies (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Sophos, etc.).
  • Experience with DNS, DHCP, SNMP, Radius/TACACS, and Configuration Management.
  • Familiarity with NAC or PacketFence administration is an advantage.
  • Experience in Network Monitoring Systems (PRTG, SolarWinds, Zabbix, etc.).
  • Scripting/Automation skills using Python or Ansible.
  • Your Daily Tasks

    System Management and Support

  • Performs daily health checks on network infrastructure reviewing device logs and responding to alerts
  • Monitors and maintains proactive real-time monitoring of network devices, connectivity, and utilization to ensure availability, redundancy and stability
  • Performs investigation, isolation, trouble shooting on incidents/outages using known and published resolutions
  • Maintains Data Center's devices and services to its standard operating environment. Patch cables are properly structured, power cables are correctly inserted, the cooling system is operational, review logbook, and Biometric.
  • Accountable for the physical installation, testing, and maintenance of devices such as routers, switches, access points, firewalls, and other security-related equipment, UPS, and other relevant network devices.
  • Actively participates in the change management lifecycle by creating and implementing requests for change (RFC), peer reviews, and attending regular change review meetings.
  • Responsible for documenting, creating, and updating standard operating procedures and best practices troubleshooting steps.
  • Ensures all tickets (service request, incident, change, problem, etc) due for closing are closed or within the SLA.
  • Requests fulfillment to the best of his/her ability to provide quality customer service to either internal or external stockholders/clients.
  • Stays up-to-date and work with new emerging and innovative technologies in order to improve network infrastructure services. Act as Lead engineer in the absence of the team lead or manager, and a Level 3 escalation for high severity issues, VIP requests, and project implementation.
  • Collaborates in the planning, testing, and proof of concept of new firmware, software upgrade, new device, concept, feature, and product.
  • Recommends improvements to the principles of Network Engineering and its processes and
  • procedures.
  • Liaises with other IT departments and partners in resolving a problem, incidents, outages, identified vulnerability, bugs, and patches remediation.
  • Accountable to maintain patch management strategy for network devices, keeping the firmware/software up-to-date or at least compliant with best practice and audit.
  • Technical peer-review standard and normal RFC.
  • Reporting & Process Improvement

  • Identifies gaps in the Support process and recommends resolution.
  • Collaborates and align with the different teams on the findings and provide recommended resolution.
  • Undertakes incident trend analysis and identify methods of improvement.
  • Delivers continuous service improvements to maximize customer satisfaction
  • Runs reports for teams, and/or stakeholders
  • Stays updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, actively participating in continuous learning and potentially obtaining relevant certifications.
  • Organizational Compliance

  • Complies and performs work based on the performance indicators and targets for the Support Team as aligned to the Division's vision and mission and objectives.
  • Complies on the policies, programs, procedures, and guidelines of the Team.
  • Ensures the security and compliance of systems in on-premises and cloud environments through regular audits and assessments
  • Contribute to the development and enforcement of IT policies and procedures
  • Continuously assess and improve IT processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Building Relationships & Technical Leadership

  • Involves and commits self to the development of the Support Team's plan consisting of its Annual Strategies, Goals and Action Plans.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with stakeholders.
  • Attends and takes part in the regular team meetings.
  • Mentors and provide guidance to junior members of the IT teams
  • Exhibits a strong sense of ownership and accountability for the reliability and performance of systems
  • Conducts regular knowledge-sharing sessions within the IT team to enhance collective expertise
  • Fosters a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration within the IT team
