Location: Rushden, Northamptonshire - projects within a 1 hours' commute

Business Area: Regional build - Eastern

Kier Construction Eastern are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join the team in Rushden who has a wealth of knowledge throughout the main contracting market, working on delivering projects from £5-40m for the Education, commercial, Leisure and Healthcare sectors. Reporting into the Operations Manager and Director, you will be responsible for scheduling and managing the operational resources of projects (people and physical assets) in order to implement work safely, on time and to the required quality while maximising customers' satisfaction and the gross profit.

Job responsibilities

Pre Construction -

  • Assist the Estimators or Bid Managers on all aspects of the tender but in particular to advise on construction methodology, programming and staffing.
  • Assist in the preparation of submission/presentation documentation
  • To arrange and attend site visits as necessary
  • Attend pre / mid / post tender interviews as necessary
Construction -

  • Be the team leader and develop a successful team ethic on site. Ensuring that all team members are advised of their roles and responsibilities
  • Liaise with the client and his advisors and fully understand their needs and expectations.
  • Responsible for instructing and co-ordinating technical consultants during the contract period
  • Responsible for appointing, instructing, monitoring and co-ordinating Subcontractors during the contract period
  • Attendance at regular meetings to ensure clear communication channels are in place, to report on progress; identify problems encountered and any variations to project both internally and externally
  • To comply with company procedural requirements, exercising financial control throughout the project
  • To contribute to the development and maintenance of efficient systems establishing good working practices
  • Dealing with all project related correspondence and distributing to team members as necessary.
  • Responsible for the production of the Contract Programme, the production of short-term programmes, as- built programmes and the monitoring of progress by updating programmes as required
  • Responsible for the resolution of technical problems and ensuring work is carried out to the correct specification and QA standards To oversee the the implementation of the Kier Health & Safety Management System and ensure Health & Safety, Environment legislation is complied with
  • Ensure completion of "snagging" at handover of the project
  • Responsible for the rectification of defects and the receipt of the Making Good Defects Certificate.
  • Continued liaison with the client and his team as required post completion Assist the Site Engineers in providing and maintaining setting out and dimensional control, to ensure accurate construction of the work.
What do we need from you?

  • Holder of a Full UK Drivers Licence
  • Relevant qualifications and experience as a Project Manager with a mian contractor
  • Full understanding of current Health & Safety Legislation
  • Knowledge and experience of partnering and target cost framework contracts
  • Sound judgement and problem solving skills
  • Commercial and contractual awareness
