We at Laing O'Rourke have a requirement for a Senior Project Planner to join one of our specialist Nuclear station projects. As part of our plan to secure a low-carbon energy future, Our client are leading the way in building a fleet of safe, reliable nuclear power stations in the UK. Sizewell C (SZC) is a proposed new nuclear station that is being developed with a target to start construction at the end of 2023.
The Senior Project Planner (Advance Works & Site Establishment) role is to work with the Planning Lead and the SZC wider teams and take responsibility for developing, managing/ coordinating and monitoring the project programme and controls for an area of the works leading up to J0 (casting of the common raft slab). The Senior Project Planner is a key member of the team to deliver the civil works and will provide both detailed and strategic inputs for all time related matters.
What will the role look like?
- Provide leadership for the planning and coordination processes.
- To implement and maintain the requirements of the Project Business Plan.
- Develop and agree by collaboration a logical sequence of events ensuring that the most economical / advantageous construction strategy is adopted.
- collaborative organisation committed to engaging stakeholders, obtaining development consent and preparing the project for the start of construction.
- Analyse performance and advise the project team of likely impact and recommend improvements.
- Ensure that the construction strategy and any recommended improvements are communicated.
- Provide leadership, support and training, and contribute to career development.
- Develop, maintain and update Contract Programme and Programme to Build in accordance with the project requirements
- Provide strategic programmes - tender, procurement, design, construction, short term.
- Report on progress and issues with advice on mitigation
- Provide leadership, support and training, and contribute to career development.
- Resource management and team development
- Responsible for the delivery of planning and coordination processes.
- To implement and maintain the requirements of the Project Business Plan.

What skills & experience are we looking for?
- Strategic Planning
- Road and Rail project experience
- Experience in the development of construction schedules on significant Civils / infrastructure projects.
- Maintenance of programme and other time related material
- Contract planning
- Pre-contract planning and work control
- On site Project experience.
- Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or similar sector related
- Planning and resourcing experience using Asta Powerproject.
- Self-motivation, resource management, staff development and coaching.
- Primavera P6
- Navisworks or 4D planning (Synchro)
- MS Office applications
