Job Title Senior Project Planner

We at Laing O'Rourke have a requirement for a Senior Project Planner to join on specialist projects with work winning, Pre-Contracts and Bids across the UK. The role will be working from the earliest stages of the project to plan the project and build the programme. An experienced Principal Planner will have a background in Civil Engineering and previous experience in the programme schedule, the experience of RC works, substructures as well as superstructure projects
What will the role look like?
- Developing and maintaining well-engineered and fully resourced programmes for Concrete sub and superstructure projects at Work Winning, Pre-Contract and Contract phases.
- Assess tender temporary works requirements and value engineering solutions.
- Project planner who can manage a program to build alongside contract programs
- Assess tender major quantities and assess errors/discrepancies.
- Understanding of Program sequencing
- Understanding methodology and logistics alongside compressive program management
- Able to deal with change events
- Present programme philosophy and strategy advantages internally and externally.
- Leading the planning and control functions on projects.
- Establishing and implementing robust project controls and accurate reporting and forecasting.
- Meeting tight deadlines, and adhering to the governance guidelines.
What skills & experience are we looking for?
- Professional Qualifications: HNC / Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar.
- Good understanding of various forms of tender documents, contract documents and specifications along with understanding of risk and opportunity management.
- Have a developing knowledge of strategic planning and project / programme management systems.
- Intermediate excel skills and an ability to accurately work with large amounts of data
- Ability to work on their own, using own initiative with support and training provided.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and providing support to others to ensure that their information is submitted on time
- Planning and resourcing experience using Asta Powerproject.
- Self-motivation, resource management, staff development and coaching.
- Primavera P6
- Navisworks or 4D planning (Synchro)
- MS Office applications
