The Role
As a Senior Project Programmer / Planner, you'll be responsible for developing and managing project programmes, ensuring that critical milestones, risks, and resource planning are effectively controlled. You will work closely with clients, project managers, contractors, and stakeholders, providing expert programme advice, scenario planning, and risk mitigation strategies to drive projects forward efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and management of project programmes from inception to completion.
  • Work with clients, project teams, and stakeholders to align programmes with project objectives.
  • Provide expert programme analysis, identifying risks and advising on mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure contract compliance with JCT and NEC programming requirements.
  • Use programming tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, and Asta Powerproject to develop, update, and maintain schedules.
  • Conduct critical path analysis, monitoring progress and advising on potential delays.
  • Support the commercial team with resource planning and cash flow forecasting.
  • Assist in programme reporting, governance, and compliance to meet client expectations.
  • Engage in programme audits and forensic planning, supporting claims and dispute resolution if required.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, helping to develop the next generation of project programmers.

About You

  • Strong experience in project programming / planning within a construction consultancy or contractor environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of Primavera P6 and MS Project (Asta Powerproject desirable).
  • In-depth understanding of JCT and NEC contracts, particularly in relation to programming and time management.
  • Proven ability to manage complex project schedules, critical paths, and risk management strategies. Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging with clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to present complex programme data in a clear and concise manner.
  • A relevant qualification in construction, project management, or engineering (HNC, HND, or degree).
  • Ideally working towards, or already holding, professional membership (RICS, CIOB, APM).
