Introduction:
Kier and VolkerFitzpatrick, working as a Joint Venture, have been awarded a £160m contract to deliver new infrastructure to ready RAF Lakenheath for Europe's first permanent home for the US Air Force F-35 Fighter Jet. The F-35 Beddown Programme, which is part of a wider programme of work to support the US Air Force operations in the UK, involves construction and renovation of a number of buildings and infrastructure projects on the Suffolk site, including a six-bay flight simulator, an aircraft maintenance unit, new hangars, and 42 aircraft parking aprons. We are looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to support our Major Projects division at RAF Lakenheath.
Key responsibilities:
  • To manage the commercial resources of the assigned project to maximise planned gross margin through the placement and control of contracts and subcontracts.
  • To assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risks and implement Kier Group's policies for risk management.
  • To support the authorisation and submission of project variations. To authorise the placement of contracts, subcontracts, material and plant orders.
  • To maximise cash flow through the control, measurement (including quality) and valuation of work, and the invoicing of customers and payment of suppliers.
  • To implement all of Kier Group's policies including those for SHE and risk management.
  • To promote Kier Group's values towards its customers in order to meet or exceed their expectations
  • Skills and experience required:
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying
  • Good knowledge of contract conditions and law within the Construction Industry
