Location: Flexible working available, where you will be based out of our Basingstoke office with home working available and travel across the M4 corridor to other sites/offices 2-3 days a week

Contract & hours: Permanent, full time, Monday to Friday with agile working considered

Kier Places are recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our passionate Capital Projects Team. The Capital Projects Team have a pipeline of opportunities to deliver cladding replacement projects to residential buildings across the M4 corridor. You will be working on a portfolio of projects predominantly involving the recladding of high-rise buildings, with typical project values between £2M and £9M, and of a construction nature. You will be joining a newly formed team specialising in this new workstream which has huge long-term growth opportunity, in which successful applicants will have a huge opportunity to grow and develop as this new workstream evolves.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor with Kier Capital Projects, you will be part of a small team dedicated to the pre-construction and delivery process of either two stage or single stage opportunities. You will be expected to commercially manage all aspects of these opportunities / projects and your key responsibilities will be to manage the upstream Client account, effectively manage costs, drive profitability, manage risk in a safe, effective and ethical manner; and be responsible for identifying new commercial opportunities in the area and managing relationships with the Client and the appointed professional team.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will oversee the appointment and management of subcontractors for successful delivery of cost, quality and duration, have accountability for pricing of additional works, resolve any contractual issues from our client and supply chain; and take ownership of Value Cost Reconciliation, forecasts, financial reports and contract reviews, to produce the required Commercial Plans in line with our Business Plan.

What do we need from you?

The successful Senior Quantity Surveyor candidate should have a relevant Quantity Surveying qualification; have membership of, or working towards, a relevant professional qualification or chartered status; have solid experience relevant to the commercial management of multi-discipline projects; extensive commercial / procurement management experience that can be implemented in projects; and can demonstrate good general Construction, Health & Safety legislation knowledge and best practices.

Whilst expertise in cladding and envelope construction is not essential, experience of delivering projects under JCT & NEC forms of contract will be, and you'll be able to demonstrate sound general construction knowledge.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor with Kier, you'll be providing commercial input and quantity surveying services to support turnover of £30m per annum, meaning collaborative working with all external and internal stakeholders will be crucial. You'll need to be a commercially focused, self-motivated individual who can manage the full process, lead a team, and execute our vision.
