Location: Flexible working available, where you will be based out of our Loughton office with home working available and some travel to other offices and sites in London, Sheffield, Midlands & South East England

Business Area: Kier Places - Housing Maintenance - Responsive Repairs contracts

Contract & hours: Permanent, full time 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Kier Places are recruiting now for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Housing Maintenance Commercial team in London, to uphold and maintain the commercial wellbeing of our housing maintenance contracts, which deliver essential fire safety and key compliance planned maintenance works as well as responsive repairs maintenance works across a variety of clients, and to reduce cost, increase value, drive revenue/profits and mitigate against risk in a safe and ethical manner.

Key Responsibilities

In this valued & trusted role as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll provide expert commercial input, alongside delivering financial and contractual performance forecasts to the senior management team which will help to ensure that business targets and KPIs are exceeded.

You will have accountability for pricing of additional works, resolve any contractual issues from our client and supply chain, whilst identifying any areas of risk and mitigation, and you will also take ownership of Value Cost Reconciliation, forecasts, financial reports and contract reviews, to produce the required Commercial Plans in line with our Business Plan.

These contracts include works for maintaining & upgrading fire safety systems (i.e. fire stopping works, fire alarms, doors & sprinkler systems), kitchen & bathroom replacements, refurbishment of voids & occupied properties, and day-to-day repairs such as gas, boiler, plumbing & heating systems, carpentry, fabric & decorative repairs, and other general home repairs.

What do we need from you?

To be a Senior Quantity Surveyor with Kier Housing Maintenance, you will be commercially focused & self-motivated, who can manage, lead and execute our vision, with management & mentoring experience to lead a team through responsive repairs, planned maintenance and Decent Homes projects.

You should have strong experience with building & maintaining relationships with clients and subcontractors; strong, demonstrable knowledge of the VCR/CVR & overall QS process; good knowledge of Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) and/or National Housing Federation (NHF) schedule of rates; the ability to give reliable forecasting & valuations; and the ability to give value for money without compromising Health & Safety and customer satisfaction across the contracts.

You will need experience within the housing maintenance sector to be successful in this role, on projects providing planned and/or repairs maintenance works, with experience of building effective working relationships with senior management, directors, and clients.

You'll be joining a passionate, close-knit, fast paced & expanding department, where we'll trust you to promote, follow & influence good project governance through the implementation of Kier policies, procedures, and compliance.
