Excellent opportunity to work on HS2 delivering the main section of works

Location: - Birmingham

Salary: - £60,000 - £65,000 basic + Car or allowance + Lodging + Overtime + Package

Role Description

The Resolute Group is working in partnership with a Tier 1 contractor supporting the build of HS2. Now focusing on the Central sector to Birmingham looking for additional commercial resources to help deliver the packages of works.

Playing a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of a package of works worth up to £100m in value. Reporting in to the Managing Quantity Surveyor, your role is to be focused on the sub-contractor agreements. Responsible for the cost control, and commercial management throughout the project lifecycle.

Day-to-day responsibilities could include:

  • Prepare detailed bills of quantities and cost breakdowns.
  • Monitor project costs against your package of works.
  • Manage the sub-contractor costs and payments.
  • Report and Manage variations, claims, and other contractual issues that may arise.
  • Produce cost reports and analyses for project management and senior management.
  • Mentor and manage more junior quantity surveyors.
  • Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships both internally and with external sub-contractors.

Working for the main contractor you need to have Tier 1 experience, used to being involved with managing sub-contractors and sub-contractor payments. Working closely with their commercial team the quickly identify potential contractual issues such as flood delays and the knock-on effects.

Qualifications / Experience

  • A form of qualification be it HNC / HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying or related subject.
  • Experience of working on Civil Engineering based projects, such as:
    • Highways
    • Rail
    • Water
    • Environmental
    • Aviation
