Portakabin is currently recruiting for a Service Supervisor to join our London East Hire & Service Centre in Purfleet. You will support the management team in the successful delivery of refurbished and fitted out Hire Fleet buildings as well as supporting site maintenance / health and safety and continuous improvement. As a Service Supervisor, you will ensure all works are undertaken in a structured manner whilst driving effective labour planning cost control improvements, delivering within agreed timescales and adhering to safe working practices and quality standards at all times. You will also support management in leading on all aspects of Health and Safety within the area of responsibility. As well as manage individual performance and appraisals / Merit system with the support of the Service Manager. The Service Supervisor will work alongside our project and commercial teams; therefore, you will be able to promote an environment of effective teamwork and communication. You will be hands-on, results-driven, and a role model to our Company values. We are looking for someone who has a passion for supporting and directly managing a team to deliver operational excellence. Role Details
  • Starting salary: £38,850 p.a (inclusive of London weighting) plus bonus
  • Role based: Purfleet, RM19 1RR
  • Contract type: Permanent
  • Hours: 39 hours per week. Monday to Thursday 07:45 to 16:30 and Friday 07:45 to 15:30 (inclusive of lunch breaks).
  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
Role Responsibilities
  • Management of operatives which includes recruitment in-line with Portakabin procedures, training and development, performance management, merit reviews, meaningful conversations and authorisation of Operative payroll and processing as appropriate.
  • Organise, administer and monitor the stock control system to ensure a reliable, steady and cost-effective supply of materials. Ensuring the effective rotation of fleet available to avoid building deterioration and achieve optimum availability.
  • Regularly review, analyse and record costs in order to maximise profitability for area responsible for. Ensure sufficient quantity of sub-contract labour is available when required, ensuring that quality standards are maintained, costs controlled and reviewed as appropriate
  • Ensure the operations team comply with all legislation, codes of practice, industry guidelines and/or Company procedures/policies relating to Health and Safety. Also, that all training is up to date and certification cards are valid.
  • Support the Chargehand, Service Manager or Service Administration role when they are on leave, if required. (At both Purfleet and on infrequent occasions also our Crawley site)
