Breedon is a leading construction materials group in the UK and Ireland. We operate two cement plants, around 80 quarries, 40 asphalt plants, 170 ready-mixed concrete and mortar plants, nine concrete and clay products plants, four contract surfacing businesses, six import/export terminals and two slate production facilities.

Breedon Southern is seeking a SHE System and Environment Advisor based at our Head Office in Breedon on the Hill, East Midlands. The role will be to manage and coordinate its health and safety and environment management systems and to provide environmental specialist support to its 160 sites throughout England and Wales.

Reporting to the Head of Health and Safety the role will include:

  • Managing and maintaining the Company's ISO 14001 / 18001 (45001) management systems
  • Managing and coordinating its internal audit programme (environment and H&S)
  • Lead internal auditor for ISO 14001 / 18001 (45001) audits
  • Migration of the current H&S management system from OHSAS18001 to ISO45001
  • Ensuring collation and submission of environmental reporting data to external stakeholders
  • Producing environmental performance reports
  • Providing advice, guidance and support on environmental regulations and other matters
  • Acting as the key point of contact with external certification body BSi.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies:

  • A degree, diploma or equivalent qualification in environmental management
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation, relevant to the quarrying industry
  • Working knowledge of ISO management systems
  • ISO management system auditing experience
  • Experience in a similar role in the construction materials sector
  • Full driving licence

In addition, the successful candidate must be enthusiastic, resourceful and self-motivated with a can-do attitude. They must also have good communication, literacy and IT skills.
