Gleeson has been partnered with a Manufacturing business looking for a Operations Manager in the Production Area of the business. This business has organically grown and is looking to further there expansion with with a people driven Operations Professional.
Locations: Solihull
Duties:
- Ensure the health and safety of all employees across the site and any other areas under your jurisdiction.
- Report any health, safety, or environmental concerns, including near misses, and ensure timely completion and submission of relevant investigation reports to the required standards.
- Conduct accident investigations, implement safe working practices, and address mitigation actions within the specified time frame.
- Ensure risk assessments are conducted across the site, regularly reviewing and updating existing assessments where necessary.
- Lead and develop a group of Team Leaders, including managing performance, absenteeism, disciplinary matters, and grievance issues.
- Drive team development and full ownership of continuous improvements in areas like housekeeping, plan adherence, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), problem-solving, continuous improvement (CI) activities, and plant objectives.
- Manage headcount for direct and indirect reports, ensuring adequate skilled staffing levels and aligning operational heads with the latest RTO, including effective holiday management.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of the company's time and attendance (T&A) system.
- Oversee any overtime requirements within budgetary limits.
- Manage the introduction of engineering changes or new products across the facility, ensuring relevant quality documentation is available and approved (e.g., Deviation, Quality Alert, PSW), and lead trials with cross-functional teams.
- Ensure cycle times are met in line with RTO and workbooks while minimising downtime.
- Monitor and ensure timely completion of containment's following approved documentation.
- Ensure that both SAFE and Layered Process Audits are conducted promptly and any issues are resolved.
- Lead the daily Manufacturing Accountability meeting, including cross-functional teams.
- Ensure shift reports are completed on time, detailing health and safety, quality performance, and production issues.
- Act as the first point of escalation for shop floor teams and customers regarding quality issues, machine breakdowns, and supply shortages.
- Escalate issues to Senior Operations Management in line with the escalation procedure.
- Respond to additional tasks or requests as assigned by the Senior Leadership team.
- Drive effective communication and cultural change across the business.
- Lead by example while adhering to the company's code of conduct.
- Provide continual management support, including weekends, to meet business needs.
