Social Value Manager (Work Winning)
Location: Dartford or Manchester

With this strategy in place, we are now looking to recruit a Work Winning Social Value Manager to support our tender activities, support the work winning team and drive our Social Value agenda.
This role will be responsible for supporting our bid teams and developing industry-leading Social Value responses for pre-qualification questionnaires and tenders. Although primarily focussed on work winning, the role will also include working with the wider sustainability function to embed environmental, social and governance procedures at project level.
Working Patterns: Laing O'Rourke has a hybrid working model which is centred around managing energy and promoting sustainable performance in role.
Key Deliverables & Responsibilities
- Evaluate all bids/questions as they arrive and support the development of Social Value related responses.
- Coordinate activities across our Social Value work winning teams both in pre-bidding, tendering and post-tendering
- Capture, develop and share evidence of exemplar Social Value performance from across the group for inclusion within future bids.
- Proactively recommend improvements consistently through evaluations of submissions and improve processes where appropriate.
- Work closely with our internal customers and stakeholders (Clients and Markets team, Bid teams, etc) to meet strict deadlines for all submissions.
- Develop exemplar Social Value responses with appropriate evidence, taking them through our working winning processes from storyboard through bronze, silver and gold review prior to submission.
- Support internal governance process working with Bid teams to prepare relevant documentation
- Upskill and mentor the wider sustainability team in bid writing, evidence statements and case studies.
- Contribute to the wider agenda of the function and organisational sustainability strategy, supporting the head of sustainability, social value and environmental leaders as required.
Technical Capabilities / Keys Skills / Qualifications / Experience and Personal Attributes
- Good understanding of work winning procedures and how to develop a high-quality bid submission
- Excellent understanding of social value including both public and private sectors and their Social Value drivers.
- Excellent understanding of national Social Value frameworks, such as the UK Government's Social Value Model and the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals,
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Excellent coordination skills and ability to manage stakeholders
- An outstanding writing style that is clear and concise, focussing on the customer and is market leading in answering pre-qualification and tender questions.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to thrive in pressurised situations, including ability to work on multiple projects and programmes and achieve tight deadlines
