Job responsibilities

We are looking for a Solicitor who will be responsible for providing and procuring legal support to the Kier Construction Business Units (BUs) in conjunction with the Senior Solicitors (Construction). In this role you will be collaboratively working with the BU commercial function to identify and manage legal risk and mitigation strategies, providing legal input to commercial/business/operational issues for the relevant BUs. You will also be responsible for the procurement and management of any necessary external legal advice for the BUs; doing so efficiently with regards to time and cost (in conjunction with the Senior Solicitors (Construction) and the Group Legal Director).

What do we need from you?

You will need to be a Solicitor or Barrister - anticipated 4+PQE Qualified or alternative equivalent experience, admitted to England & Wales or passed QLTs including appropriate legal degree (or foreign equivalent). You will need knowledge and experience in construction law, ideally both in contentious and non-contentious matters, gained from either a leading private practice, also with some in-house legal experience. In addition you will need to be a self-starter comfortable working with relative autonomy drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of construction and commercial agreements, as well as having an awareness of general business law issues (in particular competition law, procurement, company law, joint ventures, commercial contracts, intellectual property and data protection).
