Contract: Western Power Distribution

Kier work as part of a framework for Western Power Distribution to ensure its customers have power in their homes, businesses, schools and hospitals. We are an essential member of the team mainly working on reactive and planned maintenance.

We employ a number of teams across the region, whose role it is to either respond to emergencies to dig down in the street or on private property to give our client access to repair their asset, or to lay new mains cables as part of their ongoing planned maintenance programme. Our responsibility begins with planning the works and finishes with us clearing site having put it back to the same or better condition than when we arrived, making sure that customers are happy and informed throughout every stage of the works.

KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIEs
  • Manage personal and group emails
  • Process information received including validation and querying issues
  • Provide good customer service to internal and external customers both verbally and in writing
  • Effectively manage own workload, working to tight deadlines
  • Prioritise work and feed back to line manager as necessary
  • Run reports on a regular basis as requested
  • Problem solving and liaison with relevant parties as required
  • Manage inbound and outbound phone calls
  • Meet deadlines and report to line manager any potential failures
  • Comply with government legislation to avoid fines imposed by Highway Authorities
  • Update various systems accurately with validated information
  • Communicate effectively with team members and line manager
  • Chase, request and escalate information as required

  • Knowledge of communications network and/or Streetworks
  • Computer literate
  • Exact and with an eye for detail
  • Works well under pressure
  • Team player and communicates well
  • Good organisational skills
