Location: Newport Pagnell and Sandy (with travel to other depots in the area)

Business area: Highways

To assist the Asset Delivery Team (ADelT) to carry out the role of Principal Contractor under CDM providing first level supervision and management of both internal and external operations.

To provide and oversee the day to day functions of both routine maintenance and provider works schemes and ensure a high level of service is maintained throughout.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the ADelT in the programming, management and delivery of both maintenance and provider works activities
  • Daily allocation and supervision of works and resources to ensure compliance with CDM, program, Maintenance requirement plan and/or contract document.
  • Monitor Contractors Method Statements and risk assessments and ensure that they are adhered to.
  • Carry out inspection, testing and sampling to verify compliance with the Contract
  • Promote the introduction of innovation during the construction phase
  • Assist in emergency response, organize remedial repairs, coordinate with NCC after evaluating traffic flows to restore the highway back to normal running
  • Be part of the out of hours response rota for emergencies and winter maintenance as required, completion of accident incident reports and obtain any relevant information from police, etc.
  • Planning programme of works for operatives and ensuring that personnel hold the relevant qualifications to undertake works.
  • Liaison with claims team to ensure relevant details to administrate and process third party claims.
  • Liaison with Client, members of the public and other key stakeholders including the emergency services where required.
  • Take an active role in assisting the Network Occupancy team, Network Control Centre (NCC), Contractors, Local Authorities and Police in the administration of works on the network to alleviate congestion due to road works.
  • Assessing plant and material needs for work to be carried out, undertaking risk assessments & safety checks, tool box talks and audits, review daily productivity targets to ensure budgets managed effectively.

  • Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • Applicants should be IT literate and have strong database skills
  • Supervisory experience possessing good communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Essential Relevant experience of working in a multi task team environment.
  • Experience of highway inspection and maintenance
  • General knowledge of network operations and scheme delivery on high speed roads.
  • Experience of Incident management
  • Experience of Winter maintenance activities
  • Valid current CSCS (minimum Supervisor level) and SSSTS Certification
