Suffolk Highways is a collaboration between Kier and Suffolk County Council to meet the primary objective of maintaining roads and delivering new highway infrastructure in Suffolk. Personnel from both organisations work together in integrated teams as part of an alliance that aspires to be as effective, efficient, respected as possible and at the forefront of highway maintenance and improvement service delivery. All personnel in Suffolk Highways shall work to a shared set of values and behaviours.

We are looking for experienced Supervisors who can travel between offices and depots and through worksites throughout Suffolk, representing Suffolk Highways.

Key Responsibilities

The main purpose of this Supervisor role is to be responsible for providing supervision of operational activities delivered across the Suffolk Highways contract. This will include providing supervision of operational activities for reactive, cyclical, winter, street lighting and schemes related to capital maintenance and improvement works. Responsible and accountable for works delivery to ensure that it is carried out to the required quality, is in line with associated time frames, works risks are mitigated and commercial returns are realised, all in accordance with Suffolk Highways processes and procedures. Assist the associated Works Manager and work closely with other Suffolk Highways business functions, to achieve the successful delivery of the annual Contractors Plan & programme.

What do we need from you?

Supervisor must have operational experience in the delivery of reactive, cyclical, winter, street lighting and or schemes including coordination of Service Providers and experience of safety standards and SHE regulations for a variety of work, including working on live carriageways. Good problem-solving skills with a well-established ability to interpret, manage and organise data. Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint, Insight and Works Manager software systems. Self-motivated team player who can motivate others to achieve objectives. The following qualification are also a requirement for this role:

  • New Roads Street Works Act (NRSWA) accreditation
  • Health and Safety qualification, preferably IOSH or Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or demonstrable equivalent training or qualification.
  • Cable avoidance training
