Location: Ardleigh Depot, Essex
Kier Strategic Highways is looking to recruit a Supervisor to join the Areas 6&8 highways maintenance contract.
Job Purpose:
- To assist the Asset Delivery Team (ADelT) to carry out the role of Principal Contractor under CDM providing first level supervision and management of both internal and external operations.
- To provide and oversee the day to day functions of both routine maintenance and provider works schemes and ensure a high level of service is maintained throughout.
- Assist the ADelT in the programming, management and delivery of both maintenance and provider works activities
- Daily allocation and supervision of works and resources to ensure compliance with CDM, program, Maintenance requirement plan and/or contract document document.
- Ensure that appropriate site inductions are carried out and recorded
- Carry out regular start of shift and end of shift Site Briefings
- Monitor Contractors Method Statements and risk assessments and ensure that they are adhered to.
- Carry out inspection, testing and sampling to verify compliance with the Contract
- Promote the introduction of innovation during the construction phase
- Collect and collate all necessary data for the measurement of the Key Performance Indicators
- Assist in emergency response, organize remedial repairs, coordinate with NCC after evaluating traffic flows to restore the highway back to normal running
- Be part of the out of hours response rota for emergencies and winter maintenance as required, completion of accident incident reports and obtain any relevant information from police, etc.
- Liaison with claims team to ensure relevant details to administrate and process third party claims.
- Ensure that adequate staffing levels are continually maintained.
- Provide assistance with monitoring progress of site works including daily report sheets
- Assist with the Production of the quality plan and adhere to the procedures
- Identify and prepare new procedures as necessary
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of Construction Phase Plans
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial and progress reports
- Assist with the recording and valuation of the work
- Assist the Delivery Manager with the implementation of the duties of the Principal Contractor (Provider Works)
- Liaison with Client, members of the public and other key stakeholders including the emergency services where required.
- Take an active role in assisting the Network Occupancy team, Network Control Center (NCC), Contractors, Local Authorities and Police in the administration of works on the network to alleviate congestion due to road works.
- Take an active role for managing performance, training, and development in accordance to business needs.
- Assessing plant and material needs for work to be carried out, undertaking risk assessments & safety checks, tool box talks and audits, review daily productivity targets to ensure budgets managed effectively.
- Make appropriate use of IMS procedures to actively promote health and safety, risk assessments, programming of works, updating asset on the network.
- Actively promote Health and Safety in the work place by setting a good example to others by ensuring compliance with the health and safety responsibilities set out in the Health and Safety Manual, including regular site audits
- Perform other duties from time to time as instructed by you line management
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Applicants should be IT literate and have strong database skills
- Supervisory experience possessing good communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Essential Relevant experience of working in a multi task team environment.
- Experience of highway inspection and maintenance
- Extensive experience of working within the highways industry
- General knowledge of network operations and scheme delivery on high speed roads.
- An appreciation of asset management.
- Experience of Incident management
- Experience of Winter maintenance activities
- Able to work on own initiative
- Ability to lead a team
- Valid current CSCS (minimum Supervisor level) and SSSTS Certification
- Diligent in recording details and reporting
