Location: Breakspear / Whittlesford Business Area: Strategic Highways Closing date for applications 10/07/2019 Introduction: Kier Strategic Highways are looking to recruit a Supervisor to join the Area 6&8 Highways Maintenance Contract with Highways England. Kier Highways design roads, bridges and intelligent transport systems (ITS), covering strategic and nationally important roads, as well as local roads serving local communities. Our projects range from major improvements to complete renewals of roads and structures. With specialist teams, we manage complex works from conception through to handover at the end of maintenance periods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the ADelT in the programming, management and delivery of both maintenance and provider works activities
- Daily allocation and supervision of works and resources to ensure compliance with CDM, program, Maintenance requirement plan and/or contract document document
- Monitor Contractors Method Statements and risk assessments and ensure that they are adhered to
- Carry out inspection, testing and sampling to verify compliance with the Contract
- Assist in emergency response, organize remedial repairs, coordinate with NCC after evaluating traffic flows to restore the highway back to normal running
- Be part of the out of hours response rota for emergencies and winter maintenance as required, completion of accident incident reports and obtain any relevant information from police, etc
- Liaison with Client, members of the public and other key stakeholders including the emergency services where required
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Applicants should be IT literate and have strong database skills
- Supervisory experience possessing good communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Essential Relevant experience of working in a multi task team environment
- Experience of highway inspection and maintenance, incident management and winter maintenance activities
- General knowledge of network operations and scheme delivery on high speed roads
- Valid current CSCS (minimum Supervisor level) and SSSTS Certification
